Abstract
582,129. Valve circuits for wireless reception. SCOLES, G. J., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Sept. 8, 1941, No. 10141. [Class 40 (v)] A detector circuit of the cathode follower or infinite impedance type comprises a triode or screen grid valve with the input applied to the control grid and including a load resistance in the cathode circuit and a limiter diode connected to the cathode through a high resistance and having its cathode positively biassed. The Figure shows a detector V1 having load resistance R, R1 and having its cathode connected through resistance R2 to the anode of a diode V2, the cathode of which is biassed from potentiometer R3, R4. In this way the output taken from the diode anode is limited depending on the.bias applied to the diode, but an output taken from resistance R1 is not affected by the limiting action of the diode V2. The arrangement may constitute the detector in a panoramic radio receiver as described in Specifications 582,125 and 582,126. Specification 474,356 also is referred to.
