Abstract

582,066. Chucks. BENJAMIN, M. L., and BENJAMIN, S. S. -July 18, 1944, No. 13719. [Class 83 (iii)] In a bevel closing chuck, the collet is closed by a sliding sleeve actuated by a screw cap through an interposed spherical surface. The collet has a bevel-closing engagement at 6, 7 with the body and also at 9 with a sliding sleeve 3 actuated through a spherical flange 13 by a corresponding flange on a screw cap 10. The centre of the sphere is on the chuck axis. In a modification, only the flange 13 is spherical, the flange 14 being conical. U.S.A. Specification 2,228,685 is referred to.
