Abstract

581,787. Protractors. ALEXANDER, C. B. Dec. 15, 1943, No. 21013. Convention date, July 2, 1942. [Class 97 (iii)] A combined protractor and straight edge having a graduated scale along its edge is constructed so that the protractor is adjustable along the straight edge, the protractor being provided with a pointer and an angle rule, the movements of which correspond with that of the pointer. The protractor comprises a body having a central recess within which is fixed an annular member 13, the upper surface of which is provided with radial indentations and also having an annular portion 11 with corresponding graduations. The protractor is provided on its underside with a slide 15 which takes into the longitudinal slot 8 of the straight edge 2 and a spindle 22 passing through the protractor has secured to the lower end thereof a disc 32 having an angle rule 34 with scale graduations 35 while the upper end of the spindle 22 is provided with a pointer 27 and an operating knurled nut 24. The pointer is provided with a spring blade 31 which clicks over the indentations on the member 13 to give audible notice of movement. A coverplate for the protractor is provided. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 184,891, [Class 97 (iii)], and 366,311.
