Abstract

721,845. Rulers &c. NIGHTINGALE, R. July 17, 1953 [July 21, 1952], No. 18360/52. Class 97 (3). A ruler or protractor comprises a plate 10 as of transparent plastic having graduations 11 and supporting, on a spindle 14, rollers 12 which project through slots in the plate, these rollers enabling the ruler to be moved up and down a drawing-board. The spindle 14 is accommodated in a housing 15 into which projects a stud 25 which is spring- loaded at 23 so that an inclined surface 26 of the stud normally presses against spindle 14 to prevent movement of the rollers. This brake may be released by finger pressure of the draughtsman when it is desired to move the ruler.
