Abstract

580,186. Band clips. CHENEY & SON, Ltd., C. W., and'CHENEY, C. W. June 15, 1944, No. 11421. [Class 44] In a band clip of the type tightened by a worm mounted on one end of the band and engaging teeth formed on the other end, as described for example in Specification 563,807 in order to allow use of a wider band without corresponding increase in the size of worm and housing, one or more relatively narrow toothed strips are secured to one end of the wider band, a corresponding number of worms and housings being secured on the other end. The securing of strips and housings may be by electric welding. As shown, two toothed sprips 3 have their end portions 3c welded in spaced relation on the end 1c of a wide band proper 1. On the other end 1a of the wide band two correspondingly spaced housings 2 are welded at some distance from the end of the band so that in use the ends 1a, 1c may overlap. The projecting portions of the strips 3 are provided with teeth 3e. The lower worm and housing shown in Fig. 2 are as described in Specification 563,807. The upper worm and housing are of another known kind in which the worm has a head 2c bearing against one end of the housing and a washer 2d bearing against the other end.
