Abstract

579,975. Endless tracks for vehicles. WINGFOOT CORPORATION. Aug. 26, 1942, No. 12025. Convention date, Oct. 4, 1941. [Class 79 (i)] A continuously-flexible endless track comprises spirally-wound cables 1, the turns of which are held in spaced relation by upper and lower clamping plates 2, 3 to which sprocket guides 15 are bolted by a bolt 14 having a head 13 projecting beyond the lower plate 3, a removable tread block 10, 11 being secured to the clamping plates by other bolts 20 and having a socket to fit the bolt head 13 and receive the driving force therefrom, so that the tread block can be renewed without disturbing the bolt 14. The tread block comprises a metal shoe 10 and a rubber tread 11. The sprocket guides 15 overlap ,each other as shown in Fig. 2. The upper clamping plate 2 is formed with lips 16 against which the driving sprocket presses in driving the track. The roller path 4 is formed of rubber vulcanized to the upper plates 2, and each lower plate 3 has a rubber pad 5.
