Abstract
574,925. Pumps for filling ampoules &c. MANNING, A. J. Aug. 11, 1944, No. 15392. [Class 102 (i)] The pump of a filling machine for ampoules &c. having a delivery tube 33 or nozzle inserted in the ampoule and connected to a stationary part of the pump, is provided with a reaction plunger 22 situated between the delivery valve 19 and the nozzle and adapted (by its reaction under the influence of a spring 23) to apply suction to the nozzle, and so prevent drip, when the feed stroke is ended. The stroke is effected by a lever carrying a roller 37 engaging the pump plunger and a roller 38 engaging the reaction plunger towards the end of the feed stroke. The inlet and outlet valves are closed by gravity and are formed with flats which allow passage of liquid past the valve when off its seat. A stop limits the reaction of the plunger.
