[Class 7 (iii)] At high speed, fuel from a nozzle g is dispersed by known devices such as whirling channels in the nozzle or an impact member outside it, but at low speeds, the greater depression due to partial closing of the throttle valve induces a current of atmospheric air or of exhaust gas through a pipe o communicating with an annular orifice k surrounding the fuel orifice g which may be provided with a,selfclosing valve opened by fuel pressure. The nozzle may inject directly into the'cylinder, a non-return valve q being provided in the air pipe o, or it may discharge into the induction pipe adjacent the cylinder.
