[Class 119] Automatic smallarms with longitudinallysliding breech-blocks are provided with an ejection aperture 28 in the top of the receiver 22, one side wall 30 of the aperture being transversely curved or inclined so as to form a deflecting surface by which the spent cartridge cases 56, tilted upwardly by a spring-pressed ejector 61 mounted in the breech-block 27, are thrown out in a direction which does not interfere with the firer. The ejection aperture is continued rearwardly as a narrow slot 29 in which slides the lug 35 by which the breechblock is connected to the action-slide 40.
