Abstract

505,737. Automatic firearms. TEN NANT, W. J. (Verwaltungs-Ges. der Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik Oerlikon.) Aug. 9, 1938. No. 23523. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119] An automatic firearm in which firing takes place during the forward movement of the breech-block, particularly a firearm of the inertialocked type, has a cross-piece 3 immediately behind the chamber 1a in the barrel to form a ledge for supporting the end of the cartridge case during extraction. The extraction is effected by a claw 5a on the breech-block 6, and continues until the cartridge case contacts with an ejector 7. The cross-piece 3 may bo integral with the breech casing, and is located below the axis of the barrel at a distance less than one quarter of the length of the cartridge case, the cross-piece extending rearwardly so that there is only just room for the passage of the cartridge case.
