Abstract

571,936. Exhaust-silencers. CROLT ENGINEERING, Ltd., and HOLT, J. A. April 21, 1944, No. 7371. [Class 7 (ii)] An exhaust-silencer comprises a number of short tubes A arranged so that the end of one tube telescopes over the end of the next and baffles B which have flanges b held between swagings a<2> on the tubes A. After assembly, the outer end of one tube is spun so as to enter the groove formed by the swaging a<2> on the next tube and the flange and tubes are slightly rounded as shown in the Figure. End plates having inlet and outlet pipes are fixed in a similar manner and the whole assembly is enclosed in an outer cylindrical casing D.
