Abstract

571,864. Locks. COLLINS, J., STABBACK, F. L., SAXBY, R. N., and MASHEDER, P. R. Nov. 23, 1943, No. 19532. [Class 44] A permutation lock comprises a pair of levers 12 mounted on pins 13, 14 and bent at 15 to engage a hasp 4. A spring 20 engages the levers which can be moved apart to release the hasp by a pin 22 attached to a sliding piece; an abutment 24 on one lever engages a recess on the other to ensure equal movements by each'lever. The hasps can only be released when a pair of projections 11 on each lever engage notches 10 on discs 5, 6, 7 and 8. The discs are attached to wheels 17 bearing figures or letters that show in windows on the case of the lock; each wheel rim projects from the case so that it can be turned. Detent springs are provided so that the figure or letter is centrally disposed in the window. Each disc has several holes 16 so that its connection to the wheel can be varied.
