Abstract

571,071. Injection-moulding machines. WINDSOR, R. H., and CASPAR, E. Oct. 22, 1943, No. 17448. [Class 87 (ii)] Each platen carries two or more dies, each die on the fixed platen registering with a companion die on the movable platen. Each pair of registering, dies has its own cylinder and nozzle. The cylinders are supported by a fixed frame member and remain stationary while the machine is in operation. Fig. 2 is a part plan view and Fig. 3 a part side view of a machine having two pairs of registering dies 13, 14 (the under pair being hidden in Fig. 2). Two cylinders 15 are adjustably mounted in a fixed frame member 48 and are fed with material through spaced passages 26 'from a hopper 24 common to both. The material-feeding plungers 25 are reciprocated by means of arms 35 carried by the injection plungers 27, the arms working- with lost motion between adjustable abutments 33, 34. Each die 13 may be adjusted in relation to its companion die 14 by means of screws 42, 43 which coact with screw-threaded sleeves 39, the sleeves being held in the movable platen 11 and carrying the dies 13. Dowels 45 prevent rotation of the sleeves during adjustment. The heaters of the two cylinders 15 are connected in series, to ensure identical conditions in the two cylinders.
