Abstract
570,579. Snap-action switches. BOOTH, E. R., and'MARKS, S. Jan. 6, 1944, Nos. 279 and 8464. [Class 38 (v)] A multi-way switch, adapted for single-bank, or multi-bank working, comprises a rotor, or rotors, having two sets of contacts each adapted to co-operate with a set of contacts on a stator, one set of rotor contacts being in the form of angularlyspaced, peripherallyextending blades. In a single-bank arrangement, a disc-like insulating rotor 15 carries three blades 16 anchored at one end 17 and engaging at the other end with a row of fixed contacts 12 extending through the stator end-wall 14 to form terminals 13. Each contact 16 is connected to a contact plate 18 which co-operate with angularly-spaced plates 19 having terminals 20. Apertures 23 in the disc 15 receive pins 24 on an operating spindle 22 and a spring 21 extending between them ensures good contact between contacts 18, 19. A pinion 29 on the spindle 22 is engagable by rotor-positioning balls mounted in recesses 31 in a bush 25 and controlled by a circular blade spring 33. A notched disc 35 threaded on pins 24 co-operates with a fixed stop 36 to limit the angular rotation. The bush 25 has a C-shaped spring 26 adapted releasably to press pins (not shown) in the bush into holes in the stator 11 to secure the bush in place. The bush may be threaded for mounting on a panel. Additional springs (not shown) may press the blades against contacts 12. In a multi-bank form, a series of rotors are assembled on a shaft in a cylindrical stator and the contact blades 16 are bifurcated for co-operating with the respective sets of stator-contacts, Figs. 6-8 (not shown).
