Abstract

1356007 Dynamo-electric machines NIPKIEP 10 Sept 1971 42425/71 Heading H2A An external rotor electrical machine comprises a rotary shaft 3 mounted in a bearing 4 in one of two end plates 11, 5, a stator 9 having a support portion coaxial with the shaft and attached to the other end plate and a rotor including a rotor support body 2 secured at one of its ends to the shaft near the first end plate 5 and supported at its other end by a bearing 6 disposed near the second end plate 11 and arranged to permit rotation of the support body relative to the stator support portion. The rotor is surrounded by a casing 13 connected to the end plates and the end plates have ventilation apertures 16, 17 communicating with a ventilation passage between the rotor and casing. In the machine shown, a third bearing 10 is provided between the stator support and the shaft 3. The shaft carries a fan 12. In smaller machines the bearing 10 may be omitted, Fig. 2 (not shown).
