567,169. Wrapping-machines. NEALE, C. F., and FISCHER, A. P. Oct. 20, 1943, No. 17227. [Class 94 (i)] In a machine for wrapping-up annular articles such as tyre rims f or other articles such as rods or tubes, the articles are enveloped in a sheath of paper or fabric by feeding strips j, j<1> above and below the rim f as this ,is advanced by feed rollers d, e, the roller e being of concave form to receive the rim f which is also passed over an idle roller m. The rollers d, e are driven by a tape drive g and gears h, and two pairs of crimping discs d<1>, e<1> are formed on the ends of the rollers, and these crimp the edges of the two strips j, j<1> together to form a sheath which envelopes the rim f. The feed of the strips j, j<1> is synchronized with the feed of the rim, and guillotine cutters k, k<1> are also adapted to sever the strips j, j<1> when the required length has been fed. The roller d is mounted in a sliding frame which can be raised by a toggle mechanism q operated by a handle r.
