Abstract
566 769. Pistons. LOCKWOOD & CO. (PLASCO), Ltd., ASHTON, E. C., OPENSHAW, C. M., and ASHTON, G. B. March 24, 1943, No. 4768. [Class 122 (i)] Piston rings 4, preferably of plastic metallic material, are disposed between a ring 3 and slidable members 1, 2 compressed between a flange 8 and tube 9 on the piston rod. Axial adjustment of the members 1, 2, either by means of the tube 9 from outside the cylinder or by the pressure fluid acting on the members 1, 2, compresses the packing axially and causes it to expand radially into contact with the cylinder wall.
