Abstract

566,433. Pipe couplings. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Aug. 6, 1943, No. 12697. Convention date, Oct. 15, 1942. [Class 99 (i)] The interfitting coupling members 10, 11 of fabric tubes 21 are secured together by blade springs 14 carried by the member 10, extending through the member 11 and having out-turned lips 17 engaging the end face 18 of the member 11. The face 19 on the lip is at such an angle (1-8 degrees) to the 'surface 18 that the coupling will not be released by an axial pull alone, but will be released by a combination of axial pull and relative rotation of the coupling members. The lip 17 is of rounded V shape and a bead 20 extends thetefrom down the blade.
