In a joint in which flared pipe ends 4 abut an external annular rib 2 on a flexible doubleconical sealing ring 1, the rib comprises a separate member keyed in an annular groove 3 of the ring and composed of a material less flexible than that of the ring. The rib may have annular recesses 5 at its root. Specification 525,073 is referred to.
