Abstract

564,232. Electrodeposition of nickel. UDYLITE CORPORATION. May 26, 1943, No. 8408. Convention date, Aug. 27, 1942. [Class 41] Bright. ductile nickel deposits are obtained from aqueous acid baths containing a, salt of thallium in solution. Suitable baths contain nickel sulphate or chloride or both, or nickel sulphamate, boric acid, and from 0.1 to 2 grams of thallium sulphate per litre, the pH range being from 2.5 to 4.5.. The baths preferably contain in addition an organic compound | + containing the group =C-SO-, such as aryl sulphonamides, sulphonates, &c., which enable a greater amount of thallium salt to be incorporated without producing brittle or dark deposits, and generally enhance the brightening effect. Specification 525,847 is referred to.
