Abstract
559,868. Electromagnetic switches. ELECTRICAL APPARATUS CO., Ltd., WALTON, J. R., and WOODGER, F. N. Sept. 1, 1942, No. 12313. [Class 38 (v)] A shock-proof electromagnetic relay is actuated by the simultaneous movement towards each other of the two cores 20, 21; shock will move both cores in the same direction and there will be no actuation. The core 20 carries, in the form shown, a board 17 carrying two spring contacts 19 which normally engage each other. The core 21 has fixed to it a rod 28 terminating in a member 29 adapted, if both cores move together till they abut against a key 38, to separate the contacts 19 and so break the circuit. The cores are biased by springs 22 the strength of which is adjustable by rotating a drum 30 and with it a cam 39 which actuates two tubes 25, against abutments 24 on which the springs bear. In modifications, the cores 20, 21 each operate a switch, the switches being in parallel or series so that operation of both is necessary to control a circuit.
