Abstract
559,168. Thermionic valve-holders two-part couplings. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. June 27, 1942, No. 8861. Convention date, June 28, 1941. [Class 38 (i)] A thermionic valve holder or other socket member having its contacts arranged in a circle is formed with an annular groove 7 at the bottom of which the contacts are located. At one position the groove is widened to form a keyway 14, one of the valve pins 3 being formed with an enlargement 11 to fit the keyway so that the valve &c. can be inserted only in the correct position. The enlargement on the pin may consist of a cross-bar, a shoulder on one side, a circular boss attached to or formed in the pin or an insulating bush that may be moulded in one with the valve base. It is spaced from the end of the pin so as to allow the pin to enter the socket 9, but to prevent contact between pins and sockets when the enlargement rests on the edge of the groove.
