558,900. Abrasive wheels. ABBEY, A. (Carborundum Co.). July 22, 1942, No. 10278. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 2, 1942.] [Class 60] An abrasive wheel 1, Fig. 1, is provided with a resilient bush 3 of rubber or like resilient material arranged within the arbor hole 2 and lined with a metal sleeve 4 which applies the desired pressure to the rubber bush and engages the spindle of the machine on which the wheel is. mounted. Spaces 7 between the ends of the bush and the side surfaces of the wheel permit the rubber to expand. The ends of the sleeve may be flanged to engage the ends of the bush. Resilient washers 6 are arranged at the sides of the wheel and are engaged by suitable clamping means. Fig. 2 shows a tool 9 for inserting the metal sleeve 4 after the resilient bush 3 has been inserted in the arbor hole. A backing member 10 retains the bush in position while the tool with the sleeve is being inserted. The tapered end 12 of the tool serves to spread and compress the bushing.
