[Class 46] [Also in Groups XXII and XXVIII] A cup-like filter element of the kind used on motor vehicles for removing solid matter from liquid fuel, lubricating oil or air comprises a main part formed of a bent perforated metal sheet a, or sheets a<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>2</SP>, having adjacent edges united by a folded joint, or joints, b or j, and an imperforate or perforated sheet metal closure piece c, secured by another folded joint f or g, to one end of the main part. A flanged metal ring h may be secured in or around the open end of the main part by a folded joint i or by rivets.
