Abstract

572,890. Gas filters. CHEMA MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and SIGMUND, M. April 17, 1942, No. 5159. [Class 8 (ii)] A filter pack, e.g., for removal of noxious gases from air is formed by winding two bands of filtering material such as paper into a pair of spirals which may be separated by corrugated strips C, D, and are closed at alternate edges by sealing material such as latex or bitumen, and closed at the ends of the strips, e.g., by pasting the strips together. The corrugated paper may be replaced by spacing strips used during the winding of the coils and removed on completion. The latex &c. may be applied by dipping and subsequent removal of surplus matter or by application of beads of latex &c. to the edges before the winding, the material being spread by a pointed tool.
