[Class 97 (i)] [Also in Group XXIII] In light-dividing systems comprising, e.g. as in Specification 398,339, prisms 1, 2 having abutting faces 3 effecting partial reflection and partial transmission, and used in conjunction with a lens 4, the prisms are adjusted for matching the size of the images R, G, by displacement of one of them along the plane of the faces 3. The prisms may be first cemented together and tested in the camera to determine the necessary adjustment, the cement being then softened, and the prisms mounted with shims in a press as shown in Figs. 3 and 4 for effecting the adjustment and until the cement has again hardened. The press comprises walls 9, 10 adapted to receive the prism 1 with the necessary shims between one of them and the prism, and a slidable block 14 movable between walls 8, 11 and adapter to engage the prism 2. The block may be pressed by a plunger 19 and spring 22, the plunger being mounted in a lug 7, and having a pin 25 which may travel in a slot therein or may engage a face of the lug to hold the plunger in inoperative position. A bar 27, removably held by screws 28, 29, carries a pad in a shoe 32 on a screw 30, to hold the prisms on the base 5. Recesses 36, 37 are provided to prevent damage to the prism edges.
