Abstract
697,155. Spectacle frames. CREATION OPTICAL CO. May 7, 1952 [Jan. 21, 1952], No. 11544/52. Class 97 (i). A spectacle frame has a plurality of lenssecuring devices each comprising a shaft movable transversely of the frame and engaging a notch in the edge of the lens, and resilient means acting on the shaft to urge a grip member carried thereby against a face of the lens to clamp it against the frame. The invention is described as applied to rimless spectacles in which the frame extends only along the upper edges of the lenses. As shown, the shaft 5 is slidable in a socket 6 fixed to the frame and carrying, if desired, a bracket 2a for a side arm. The shaft carries a grip member 4, and a spring 7 engaging an abutment 9 on the shaft to hold the latter in its withdrawn position. To insert a lens the free end of the shaft is pressed inwards, the notch 3 in lens edge is engaged by the shaft 5 in the space between the grip 4 and the bottom 8 of the socket 6 and on release of the shaft the spring 7 causes the grip 4 to hold the lens.
