Abstract

549,481. Electric incandescent lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. (General Electric Co.). Oct. 31, 1941, No. 14044. [Class 39 (ii)] A high-wattage heatradiating lamp for paintdrying and other drying purposes has a tungsten filament of coiled wire wound and supported to take the form of a series of open-ended triangles 21, 34, 22, supported each at the apices, the whole filament structure taking the form of a triangular prism and occupying the minimum of space. The ends of the wire are connected by hooks to the lead-in conductors 15, 16 which carry between them a glass stem 27 to which hooked props 23, 24 for the support of the apices are secured. A mica reflector is supported by the lead-in wires in the neighbourhood of the pinch. In a modified form, Fig. 6 (not shown) the lead-in wires are parallel and carry in addition to the stem 27 an upper stem to which are attached props for supporting the upper ends of the triangles.
