Abstract
546,181. Endless conveyers. ROSE, A. G., and ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. Jan. 14, 1941, No. 536. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XVII] Relates to apparatus for collecting uniform groups of articles of uniform shape and feeding the groups to apparatus for further operation, such as a wrapping machine. According to the invention, the apparatus comprises an endless belt 13 for feeding the articles forward continuously in two or more lines side by side, and a vertically reciprocating platform 17 which receives groups of articles from the belt 13 and lowers them into the path of pusher bars 42 that push the groups off the platform on to a conveyer 44. The articles 11 are fed by hand from a table 12 on to the belt 13 in two lines on each side of a guide strip 14. The articles are fed on to the platform 17 into contact with stop plates 18, a horizontally reciprocating member 51 assisting in positioning the articles on the platform. When the foremost articles make contact with the plates 18, the platform 17 descends and carries the articles into the path of the pushers 42 which sweep the group of articles off the platform on to the conveyer 44. During the downward movement, angle brackets 46 prevent the articles on the belt 13 from moving forwards. Specification 252,216, [Class 94 (i)], is referred to.
