Abstract

545,757. Electromagnetic relays. SANGAMO WESTON, Ltd. Sept. 18, 1941, No. 11958. Convention date, March 1, 1941, [Class 38 (v)] Instrument-type relays in which a good contact is produced by magnetic attraction between the co-operating contacts, have a layer of non-magnetic but conductive material arranged on one or both contacts to prevent too close an approach of the magnetic parts so that the relay may operate to separate the contacts by the ordinary forces which tend to move the needle 3 when the current varies suitably. Fig. 8 shows one form in which both magnetic contacts have non-magnetic material associated with them. The non-magnetic screw 19 is moreover adjustable to vary the distance to which the magnetic parts can approach.
