Abstract

545,632. Treads, non-slipping. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and KING, F. G. W. Dec. 4, 1940, No. 17246. [Class 20 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A rubber tread is provided with embedded metal plates 2 arranged edge-on, and radial or oblique, to the tread surface. To increase the non-slipping effect one face of each plate is left unadhered to the wall of the slot in the rubber. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the plates may be embodied in spaced tread ribs 3, and, adjacent rows may be oppositely-inclined. As shown in Figs. 5 and 6 the wearing edges of the plates may be formed with serrations 2f, 2g, and keying perforations 2c. The base edges of the plates may be flanged to spread the load.
