Abstract

545,574. Lubricated plug-cocks. MILLIKEN VALVE CORPORATION, and NEWMAN, F. R. Oct. 30, 1940, No. 15881. [Class 135] A lubricated plug-cock has circumferential lubricating grooves 17, 19 above and below the plug ports joined by a pair of longitudinal grooves 22 in the seating at the ends of a diameter making an angle of 45 degrees with the conduit axis. Short longitudinal grooves 18, 20 and a cross-grove 21 connect the circumferential grooves with bearing surfaces 5, 9 on the upper and lower ends of the plug. The plug spindle 11 is formed with a lubricant reservoir 13 supplied through a nipple 14 fitted with a non-return valve 15 and connected with the groove 17 by a cross passage 16 which may be fitted with a non-return valve. No stops are provided so that the plug may be rotated through 360 degrees. Specification 497,866 is referred to.
