Abstract

545,203. Tumbler switches. CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A., McLOUGHLIN, H. F., and MORGAN, R. W. Jan. 10, 1941, No. 399. [Class 38 (v)] The dolly b of a tumbler switch is pivotally supported on one or more arms e which also serve to conduct current from a terminal f to a moving contact c. In the form shown, which is for. a doublepole switch, there are two terminals f and two arms e which embrace the dolly and receive trunnions g belonging to two contacts c which are arranged on opposite sides of the dolly and engage two fixed contacts d. The dolly has a cavity underneath which receives a compression spring adapted to move over dead-centres. The switch is specially designed for A.C. having an arrangement of contacts as in Specification 529,966 which produces during the first stage of the opening movement a small gap only.
