Abstract
543,108. Worm or screw conveyers. PORTEUS, W. Oct. 31, 1940, No. 15911. [Class 78 (i)] The discharge end of the tube or trough of a worm or screw type conveyer 12 is fitted with a rotary member which may comprise a further short coaxial screw conveyer 16 running at higher speed to ensure continuous and uniform discharge of granular or powdered material. The material is fed from hopper 1 past agitators 2, 6 to the conveyer 12 which is driven by ratchet gear 15 of adjustable ratio from a shaft 3 geared to the driving shaft 5. The small conveyer 16 has a larger number of turns than the main conveyer and is mounted on the tubular shaft 17 which is driven at high speed by belt 19.
