[Class 18] A fibreboard &c. shipping container, e.g. for apples, oranges,pears, melons or other products subject to shrinkage is made from an outer blank 34, Fig. 6, panels 14 . . . 17 forming the lateral walls and panels 25... 28 the bottom, tab 22, being stapled &c. to wall 14. Top flaps 35, 37 are folded down over end braces 41, Fig. 1. Resilient side members 48 secured to uprights 50 are placed against the sides and covered by a lining 63, Fig. 7A. Flaps 46, 47 are folded over flaps 57 of the lining to form half lids, which, by means of double folds 55, 56 and 43, 44, adjust themselves to the height of the contents. Side members 48 also adjust themselves to the volume of the contents. The grain of the hair fibre of the liner may be arranged at right angles to that of the container. In a modification side members 48 are secured on a sheet and their ends engage within braces 45, spring tabs being formed in flaps 35, 37 to permit entry of the ends of members 48. In a further modification, flaps 35, 37 are not folded down but form part of the top closure, and separate lining panels are used for walls 15, 17.
