540,279. Snap fastenings nuts; inductances. TINNERMAN PRODUCTS, Inc. Aug. 28, 1940, No. 13547. Convention date, June 12. [Classes 44 and 89 (i)] [Also in Group XXXV] A device for mounting instruments or components of wireless sets on panels, and particularly described as for mounting a tuning coil having a tubular body 1 with magnetic core 5 axially adjustable by a screw 6 for tuning purposes, comprises a U-form member of spring metal, the ends of the limbs 12, 13 being transversely curved to fit the cylindrical body 1 and provided with inward projections adapted to engage apertures 2, 3 in the body. As shown the projections are formed by the inwardly bent edges 14, 15 of apertures formed in the limbs, and of such depth as to lie flush with the inner surface of the body to avoid obstructing movement of core 5. Near their other ends the limbs are formed with angular stamped-out tongues 18, 19 adapted to snap into engagement with the ends 4 of a slot formed in the panel P. The transverse portion 11 of the device is provided with screw-receiving means which, as shown, comprises downwardly bent spring tongues 20 bearing frictionally against the screw and helically disposed edges 2'1 of an aperture which engage in the threads. Modifications of this arrangement are described. In a modification, Fig. 10, the lower end of body 1 is thickened and provided with external inclined slots 42, 43, the limbs of the device being formed as hooklike tongues 56, 57 which are slid along these slots and snap into engagement behind shoulders provided by the thickening. The frictional tongues 20 are omitted, the screw being received between the opposed V-shaped ends of downwardly inclined tongues 70, 71.
