Abstract

538,730. Brackets. BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO., Ltd., and SYMON, A. Feb. 13, 1940, No. 2782. [Class 52 (v)] [Also in Groups XXV and XXXVI] A clamping device for securing and supporting a number of pipes, conduits or the like of different diameters side-by-side particularly on aircraft structures, comprises separate complementary pairs of recessed blocks 13-17, each pair appropriate to a particular size of pipe, the blocks being detachably assembled in a pair of frame members 10, 11 which can be drawn together to effect clamping by means of bolts and nuts. The members 10, 11 are of channel form adapted to embrace correspondingly undercut parts such as 19, Fig. 3, on the blocks, which are assembled by sliding into the channels from the ends. The assembly is completed by end blocks 18 receiving the clamping bolts. The projecting ends 22 of the bolts may be secured to the desired support, frame 11 with the lower block of each pair and with the end-pieces 18 being then placed on the bolts. The upper ends 20 of the end-pieces are cut away as in Fig. 3 so that frame 10 carrying the upper block of each pair can be applied over the pipes &c., and secured by nuts on the ends 21 of the bolts. The blocks may be of rubber or plastic or acetate material, in which case they may be plated with metal to provide "earth" connection for the pipes &c.
