Abstract

360,146. Pipe jointing apparatus. GEDGE, F. G. P., Sunny moor, Alexandra Road, Parkstone, Dorset. Oct. 2, 1930, No. 29474. [Class 99 (i).] Cement is retained in a recess 4 in a pipe joint by pneumatic tubes 3, 8 temporarily applied to the outer and inner ends of the recess. The outer tube is: secured by a fabric band 5 and wires or straps 6, and the inner tube is carried by an annular . support 9 mounted on wheels 11. Two or more supports 9 may be connected by a frame for dealing with more than one joint at a time. A grout box 16 has two openings 18, 18a in one side with a lug 21 and an inner partition 17 between them. The lug 21 is inserted in the recess 4 and the spaced ends of the tube 3 are clamped in recesses 15 in the bottom of the box. Cement is introduced through the pour hole 20 until the issue of cement from the hole 19 indicates that the recess 4 is full.
