Abstract

535,722. Draw-gear for vehicles. WOODHEAD & SONS, Ltd., J., and SANDERS, T. H. Nov. 29, 1939, No. 31021. [Class 103 (v)] Draw-bar springs of the laminated type are provided with a locking device for the removable pin 3 by which the spring is coupled to a vehicle, comprising a split or gapped ring 4 the ends of which when the ring is in the position shown for retaining the pin are engaged in grooves 8 formed in the two sides of a projection 5 of the central hoop 6 of the spring. To permit removal of the pin, the ends of the ring 4 are slid up the grooves to a hole 9 in the projection. The ring can then be turned in its own plane until the gap is adjacent the head of the pin from which the ring may then be detached. For securing the spring to the brackets 11 by which it is mounted on a vehicle, outwardly bent ends 2b of a pair of plates 2a of the spring are forced into engagement with the edges of slots in the brackets by conically-ended bolt 13 driven between the plates and passing through upper and lower holes in the adjacent clip 15 of the spring.
