Abstract

533,341. Fluid-blast switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., TRENCHAM, H., and COX, H. E. Oct. 31, 1939, No. 29031. [Class 38 (v)] The shunting resistance 4 is connected between the fixed nozzle-contact 2 and an auxiliary ring contact 3 disposed so as to separate the part of the switch containing the contact 2 from the part to which the fluid is first admitted. The application of the full blast is delayed until the openings 8 in the tubular movable contact 6 are uncovered, and when the contact 6 leaves contact 3 and openings 9 are uncovered, the blast through the former, becomes effective. In the " Complete " drawing (not shown), the movable contact tube or rod is permanently in engagement with a resistanceconnected contact in partition 7, and passes through ring 3 to engage a fixed contact rod.
