Abstract

530,110. Regulating air compressors. FLIGHT, L. May 2, 1939, No. 13075. [Class 8 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] A micrometer adjustment for the valve gear of internal combustion and other engines, air and gas compressors &c. comprises an adjustable screw 26 threaded into the valve rocker 20 or tappet and formed with a milled head 30 engaged by a spring-pressed pawl 32, the rocker 20 or tappet being split at its end 24 and the two halves thus formed clamped upon the screw 26 by a locking-bolt 25. Modified arrangements of spring-pressed pawls are described, in some of which the pawl engages teeth within the milled head. Also the screwed member 26 may have its lower part unthreaded and formed angularly to engage a corresponding hole in the rocker or tappet, so that rotation of the member 26 is prevented, the upper screwed part being fitted with a micrometer adjusting-nut.
