Abstract

[Class 122 (v)] Leakage along a centrifugal pump or like shaft is prevented by a rubbing ring c bearing upon a shoulder on the shaft, a spring loaded non-rotary bush e bearing upon the ring c and a fixed indiarubber sealing ring g making a fluid-tight joint with the periphery of the bush e. The latter is of rubber or of synthetic resin, and the ring g is tapered and has a ridge at the thin end.
