Abstract

526,424. Valve amplifying circuits. MAYO, C. G., and ELLIS, H. D. M. March 4, 1939, No. 7173. [Class 40 (v)] A multi-stage amplifier has a main feedback loop between input and output and has its stability increased by the provision of additional negative feedback across part of the loop, the part including one or more valves. The nature and magnitude of the impedance elements in the additional feedback loop being such that, if the performance of the part of the main loop across which additional feedback takes place be expressed by the equation e 2 =e 1 Á 0 /1+dp+e<SP>2</SP>p<SP>2</SP> where e 1 and e 2 are input and output voltages, p = # times any frequency in the working range, d and e are constants dependent upon the impedance elements in the additional feedback loop and Á 0 is a numeric, the ratio d/e is increased as compared with its value in the absence of the additional feedback preferably to a value ten or more times greater. The additional feedback may be provided between the anode and control grid of one of the valves in the main loop. Specification 453,574 is referred to.
