[Classes 142 (i) and 142 (ii)] The warp threads pass through heald eyes 10, Fig. 1, 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, Fig. 2, guided in fixed vertical guideways 12 and carried by rods 11 secured to slide blocks 17, which are reciprocated on fixed vertical rods 18 by levers 22, 23 pivoted at 24, 25 and operated by cam grooves 27, 28 in a rotating cam 26. The guideways 12 are constituted by sheet metal plates 13 secured to the opposite faces of vertical blades 15 and secured to an annular support 16. The rods 18 are fixed to the loom frame at 20 and to the blades 15. Each slide block may comprise sheet metal members 17a, 17b 17a welded together and a spindle 17d. Each block may operate one, two or more healds. The rods 11, 18 may comprise wires or piano strings. Shunting switches 38, Fig. 5, controlled by springs 40 may be provided, so that after the loom has been stopped, if the cam 26 is rotated reversely (in a direction opposite to the arrow F) the levers are directed into grooves 36 whereby all the warp threads are lowered, and the shuttles made readily accessible for removal &c. The levers may be provided with rolls or rollers.
