Abstract
525,499. Float-actuated valves. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Feb. 22, 1939, No. 5921. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1938. [Class 135] A valve connected tc the oil tank at A and to the expansion vessel at B of an oil-insulated transformer, of the type normally open to allow breathing, but which closes to prevent emptying of the expansion vessel upon rupture of a pressure-relieving device in the oil tank, has its valve member 3 normally held open by a float 4 but closed by gravity when the oil drains from beneath the float. A larger valve 2 may be arranged either concentrically with or beside the valve 3 to allow greater flow from the oil tank upon rises in pressure, and in the latter arrangement the valve 3 and the float may be protected by a screen or wall. For filling the oil tank a screwed lifter 5 is provided which engages in the inoperative position a seat 8, and the threads of which are loose so that leakage therethrough will indicate that the lifter is not screwed fully clear of the valve,
