Abstract

523,929. Moulding confectionery by rolling- machines. HENKEL, A. A. Jan. 17, 1939, No. 1656. Convention date, Feb. 26, 1938. [Class 87 (ii)] A machine for forming ropes 5 of plastic sugar comprises tapering rollers 1-4 arranged at an inclination to the horizontal and forming an open trough at the upper end and surrounding the formed rope to an extent greater than half its circumference at the lower end. The rollers are mounted on a casing 10 and driven from fixed gearing 15 by universal couplings. The upper rollers 1, 2 are shorter and terminate to the rear of the lower rollers 3, 4. The forward ends of the upper rollers are connected by ball joints 20 to arms 21 which can be rotated on shafts 22 to adjust the rollers 1, 2, the shafts 22 being operated by lever arms working on a screw shaft rotated by hand wheels. The casing 10 is pivotally mounted at 11 and its inclination is adjustable .by links 8, 9 and a screw 13. The gearing 15 is driven from a motor 16 through a shaft 18 and universal couplings 19.
