500,750. Consolidating concrete by vibrations. JOHNSON & SONS, Ltd., C. H., HARTLEY, J. A., and PHILIPPOVIC, J. W. Oct. 13, 1937, Nos. 27803/37 and 255407/38. [Class 86] A vibrator comprises a rotary unbalanced weight enclosed in a casing which is immersed in the concrete, and is connected by a shaft having flexible couplings to a motor enclosed in an upper casing fitted with handles for manipulating purposes. The unbalanced weight g, mounted in bearings g<1> in the casing h, is driven by a shaft d connected thereto by a coupling including a rubber block, the shaft d being enclosed in a sleeve b and con nected by a further flexible coupling to the motor shaft m<1>. The motor casing a, fitted with handles a<2>, is connected with the sleeve b by a rubber collar c. The shaft m<1> may be driven through an epicyclic multiplying gear.
