Abstract

523,275. Piston packing rings. STERN, N. S. Dec. 30, 1938, No. 37814. [Class 122 (i)] An oil scraping ring consists of an annular flat ring 1 having pressed out fingers 2 which bear against the side walls of an annular groove in the piston or against rings 3, 4, in the groove. The tongues 2 may be pressed from the inner or outer edges of the ring andfrom each face. A number of such rings maybe fitted in a single piston groove as shown for example in Fig. 26. The rings may be welded or otherwise secured together.
