[Class 83 (iv)] Sectional drawing-dies for polygonal work have the segments backed up by wedge shaped abutment members individually adjustable parallel to the axis of the die. Each die section is of quadrilateral form and has one side 26 part of which forms a side of the polygonal die opening, a side 27 in sliding contact with the face 26 of the adjacent section, a' side 28 engaging bolt 29 for locking the section in adjusted position and a fourth side which is inclined and bears on an inclined abutment surface 13. The sections are mounted within a body 11 formed with spaced recesses in which are slidingly keyed as at 14 abutment members 12 mainly of cylindrical form, but provided with flat abutment surfaces 13. A plate 15 is bolted to the body 11 and through it are screwed sleeves 17 surrounding studs 19 projecting outwardly from the members 12 which may be locked in adjusted position by means of nuts 18, 36. The inner face of a plate 15 rotatably supports by means of pins 22 and slots 23, a size adjusting member which carries studs 34 projecting into grooves 33 in the die sections and which has holes into which a tool may be inserted for adjusting the die opening. For this purpose alternate members 12 are released by unscrewing the sleeves 17, the member 21 is rotated to alter the size of the opening, the.screws 17 are screwed back to the original position and the bolts 29 are tightened on to the sides 28 of the sections. Pointers 35 may be carried by the heads 18 of alternate studs 19 so that the screws 17 may be readily brought back to the previous position of adjustment after the member 21 has been rotated.
