Abstract

520,995. Aircraft landing-gear. DOWTY, G. H. Sept. 17, 1938, No. 27190. [Class 4] A rigid undercarriage leg for aircraft is made hollow to constitute a container for pressure fluid used for operating flaps, retraction gear, &c. The leg 1 has an internal pressure-tight wall 2, and is closed at the top by a plug 10; the enclosed space 11 forming a pressure container, which may also be used as a pressure accumulator by the use of an idle piston 12, above which liquid is received through passages in the plug 10, air being compressed beneath the piston. A landing- wheel 5 is carried by a lever 4 controlled by a shock-absorber 7. Specifications 460,316, 480,687 and 500,477 are referred to.
